What would be your reaction to a bumper sticker that reads something like ‘BUSHIT’ or ‘Bush sucks. Dick Cheney too.’...Before you give your opinion let me tell you that both these stickers became the cause of a $100 ticket to a woman as the Dekalb County police officer considered them as ‘lewd’. And now Denise Grier, the lady has taken the case to court.



Yes, they are a bit too loud, but I don’t think so they call for something like issuing a ticket followed by long court sessions. It’s not a crime to have your say openly. In a democratic country like US, freedom of speech is something very basic that one can expect.



I think it’s the matter of how you perceive things. Grier says ‘It’s not just a Democrat/Republican issue,’ but the right to speak that’s being crushed in this case.



Giving it a Partisan look is going to make things worse...and that was precisely what the officer did.

The lady is very much right in fighting for her freedom of speech (must add she’s daring too). I think it was good that this case came to limelight as with the politically correct statement made by the sticker the disparity of the paradigm of the left and the right, that’s very much prevalent in the country came to the centre stage.
