I keep on writing about differences between men and women...and I know newer studies will keep coming in to further strengthen this distinction. The point of difference is the online activity of the two.

A recent study conducted by the Pew Internet and American life suggests that women get online mostly to keep in touch with their dear ones...using e-mails. They credit e-mails for improving their relationships. Other than this, religious information and details regarding their health and personal problems are some more reasons for women to use internet.

In contrast to this men are found to be fact worshippers, they get online most of the times to get facts and figures about weather, business, sports and political scene. As far as being a part of community or socializing is concerned men prefer to be a part of forums, interest groups and fan clubs. Another area of men’s interest on the internet is ‘recreation’. They use it for entertainment by downloading songs, playing games, reading for pleasure sake and like.

A factor that can be considered responsible for a difference in the online activities of the two counter parts, other than psychological differences is the domain in which the two spend their offline time. In case of women it is mostly household, kids, friends and families...and this is precisely why most of them are interested in issues like health, medical information, religion etc. While men are most of the time in office so they are mostly in need of facts or recreation after their hectic schedules.
