‘Toshishita’ aka younger women are becoming a hot property among Japanese women. According to research, most of the career conscious, Japanese women keep postponing the marital plans or if they plan to go for some romantic liaisons, younger men come up as their first preference.
Great deal of newly acquired economic independence on the part of women is been regarded as the reason behind this kind of a trend. This is because of the fact that the reason why women married has changed over the time...from financial dependence to companionship.
Figures show that all-most one-third of marriages taking place in 2002, had couples where husbands were younger than wives.
