binge-76_50Women may who tend to go in for voracious eating may now find solution to combat their bout of excessive indulgence in eating. A psychological technique called ‘mindfulness’ based on Buddhist philosophy and practice might offer them some relief in this context.

It is a technique where no restrictions are imposed on the eating habits instead, the focus is made on providing freedom from negative thoughts and passions. The women are encouraged to tackle the emotions that lead to their binges.

Scholars postulated that when women think they are not measuring up the self-imposed standards they tend to go in for eating binges. And the graph shows an upward trend in case of high achievers and perfectionists women.

Psychologists held the view that

‘binge eating is largely a distraction - a temporary escape from events and emotions that nevertheless can cause long-term physical problems including electrolyte imbalances. Instead, women need to learn how to react in a different way.’

The technique is related to meditation in where, the person is helped to live in the present moment. They are encouraged to develop a healthy approval of self and become aware of potentially destructive habitual responses.

So ladies, you must remember by getting into the dungeons of excessive eating, you are only playing havoc with your self. The uncomfortable phase is just temporary you must fight and give your best shot, who knows the trouble times may prove a boon in the end :-)
