I am very fond of stylish footwear, specially those strapy ones...they look great with a sexy evening dress. And I know there will be hardly any woman who is not fond of shoes. But off lately I realized slight pain in my back...and was surprised when the doctor said it was due to the shoes that I was wearing.
It happens that looking merely at the design, heel and style we end up compromising on the comfort part when it comes to buying a shoe. Where as the fact is that comfort level should be given the top priority while buying a new footwear.Dr. Michael Mull, a podiatrist for more than 25 years, estimates 90 percent of his patients’ problems are due to wearing improper footwear.
And this not the case only in the young generation...but you can easily spot an 70 year old lady wearing those sequined pointed high heels, that make a steady walk a big time problem for her. It’s important to know that, as we get older, our feet get wider and longer, so you should not keep sticking to the shoe size 7 that you wore when you were 20 something.
Problems caused or aggravated by shoes can include bunions, hammer toes, blisters, calluses, corns, fallen arches, Achilles tendonitis, ingrown toenails, heel spurs and even knee and back aches.
Just in the heck of making a style statement, one should not sacrifice upon the comfort...and I’m very sorry to say that we are doing this. Style and price needs to be given a back-seat while comfort should be your first priority, next time you go on for shoe shopping or you never know you might need a podiatrist someday.
