Princess Aiko, the three-year-old daughter of Japan’s heir to the throne, is one step ahead to become the first empress of the country since 18th century. All thanks to the government panel on imperial succession that decided to allow females and their descendants to lead to Japan’s imperial throne.

Allowing women and their descendents to head the world’s oldest monarchy is indeed a drastic step. And this step is taken to avoid an expected succession crisis. With a view to safeguard the interest of simplicity and stability, the panel has opted to give priority to the first born child irrespective of the gender.

This change will definitely bring a fresh feel to the old and monotonous practice of seeing just men ruling Japan... People it’s time to see women ruling!!
