Lawmakers in Japan have joined hands to protest against the ruling that aims to make four-year-old Princess Aiko the next successor of The Imperial Household.
Conservatives are opposing the rule to allow women to ascend to the throne, owing to the possibility that if Princess Aiko marries a blue-eyed foreigner, their child will be the official successor to the throne. And this will pose a threat to the the authentic tradition and culture of the country.
So in order to curb any happenings of this kind around 40 lawmakers in support of 1200 people have started off a rally. It is to be noted that Japan has had female monarchs earlier as well, though during emergency...if that was possible, then why not a full fledged woman monarch.
