There are certain ailments that are typical for exercise freaks. The moment they gear up for the health regime some pain or pull put them off. Guardian has streamlined some 7 ailments common to those who exercise, so have a look at them:

1.Jogger’s nipple

It is indeed a painful state, the moment that sweaty T-shirt rubs along the body it feels as sandpaper is being rubbed. Nipples getting erect due the chill, adds on to the problem. So it’s advised to use Vaseline and something like Nipguard. Other than this you can go in for sweat-wicking fabrics or tighter-fitting Lycra. Instead of heavy cotton T-shirts that absorb sweat.

2.Stitch

The tugging that occurs when the diaphragm moves upwards or when we breathe out causes a strain that leads to stitch if it’s too hard. Cause of stitch is basically linked to dehydration. Drinking little during exercise can work and avoiding heavy foods before exercise can also benefit.

3.Shin splints

When you over exert your self in a very little time you end up getting Shin Splints (a dull but considerable pain in the front of the legs). Sports like running or aerobics that include too much jumping leads to shin Splints. So make your work-out a mix of all kinds of exercises and do warm up before doing it the harder way.

4.Exercise headaches

Many people end up getting a headache after a short, high-energy workout known as “benign exertional headache” that lasts for up to 24 hours. Warm-up can prevent this kind of headache. Sometimes these are a result of dehydration or low blood sugar, so taking a sports drink can help.

5.Tennis elbow

Repeated contractions of muscles connected to the elbow joint leads to something that’s calld a Tennis Elbow. It is a result of the force created by the racket hitting the ball reverberating up the forearm into the elbow. If you want to avoid it then improve your technique through coaching and make sure your racket grip is the right size. Apart from this Wrist-strengthening exercises can also help.

6.Runner’s trots

“Urgently needing a bowel movement is actually one of the most common reasons for stopping during a run,” says Dr Patrick Milroy, a GP and medical adviser to Runner’s World. “Increased gut movement and a redirection of blood flow during exercise results in the release of chemicals that can trigger diarrhoea.”

7.Hitting the wall

You have to come to a halt when you feel overwhelmingly fatigued, light-headed. To avoid such a situation you need to avoid high carbohydrate snack or meal atleast three hours before tough exercise.
