A new technique developed in Japan will now enable women to use their own stem cells and fat for a more ‘natural’ looking breast enlargement.

The new form of cosmetic surgery promises breasts that look and feel smoother than conventional implants.
Stem cells are found in embryos and have the potential to change into any cells in the body. The most plentiful supply of it in adults comes from body fat.
In this procedure, body fat is transplanted to the breasts. The stem cells enable the fat to grow its own blood supply which means the fat then becomes an integral part of the breast itself rather than a foreign object.
Clinical trials in Japan have been proven successful with several women receiving the transplant. With the procedure being given the nod by German authorities, the technique is now legalized throughout Europe, including Britain, according to EU rules.
But litigation concerns are likely to delay the availability of the procedure in Australia for the time being.
Michael Zacharia, president of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, said:
The technique could make the detection of subsequent breast cancer more difficult. While the procedure gives a very nice natural result, it could be hard to determine whether changes occurring in a breast were as a result of cancer or the fat transfer. Medical insurance companies just refuse to cover it.
So you lose fat from where you don’t want it and get a brand new pair of boobs as well? Now that’s what I call a good deal!
