may_50This week the International Women’s Media Foundation, a nonprofit group committed to strengthening the role of female journalists around the world have bestowed honor upon three reporters.

The first one is May Chidiac, host of Lebanon’s ‘Good Day’ popular TV program based on politics. She is being honored for her courage, integrity, and sacrifice. As she lost her left hand and leg in a purposeful explosion which occurred in her car because of her audacity on Syria’s possible involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The second recipient is Gao Yu, a freelancer in China, and the third is Jill Carroll of The Christian Science Monitor.

Along with them, Elena Poniatowska Amor of Mexico received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her pioneering spirit in paving the way for future generations of female reporters.
