VerizonVerizon Communication is a company that is worth tagging as ‘dream destination’ for all the working moms belonging to coloredcultures, for it tops the list of Best Companies for Women of Color, in Working Mother Magazine’ 2006.



This year, Working Mother Magazine has focused only on those companies that provided active task force to support women of color in particular. These women included those coming from African-American, Asian-American, Latina and Native-American cultures.



The 12 companies that made up to the list provided equal opportunities to these women and opened to them the doors of all the cutting-edge leadership and management trainings with a view to encourage their advancement in the corporate sector, without limiting the opportunities just to their white counterparts.



Verizon Communications is a company that proved best on all these criteria and it has the reputation of offering diversity as an integral part of their corporate culture. The fact is evident from stats that show that women and minorities account for nearly 44 percent of Verizon’s top management positions.



This attempt by Working Mothers to honor the companies that promoted interest of colored women will be an encouragement to other companies to follow the suit and will make working environment much more favorable and open to development.
