There is a long list of repercussions attached to night shift jobs. And these repercussions become all the more serious when a woman is working in night shift. A recent study conducted by the University of North Carolina, states that a pregnant woman working in night shift is more prone to give birth to a premature baby than those who are working in the normal day hours.
Activities like standing for long hours on the job and lifting heavy objects also add on to the chances of delivering a premature baby. But the extent of effect of activities like this is a bit less in comparison to that of working in night shift.
Though the key reason behind this kind of a result is unclear at the moment, but still there are some evidences which show that there is some change in the activity of the uterus during night and since night shift makes the biological clock go almost reverse, this brings some changes in he uterus activity as well...which is being attached to premature delivery.
Though the number of women working in night shift is relatively small, but still we need to take this kind of a revelation into consideration. Even women should understand what is good for them and what is not. And though career is equally important but the life that you are nurturing in your womb is equally precious for you. So try and make some adjustments in your working hours if that can save upon your baby’s life.
