An article by author Alison Wolf for Prospect Magazine has gather huge controversies around itself for the lady opines that the sudden increase in the so called power-packed women of the day, who are looking out for everything ranging from a high-paying job to a fat bank balance at the cost of their familial life that includes motherhood too.
She says that this kind of a lifestyle can have dire consequences for the society as it is taking women away from the more caring professions and turning them into money churning machines. A trend like can be seen as a full stop to the notion of ‘female altruism’ believes Wolf.
Here I would say that what’s bad in this new avatar of women. It’s been high time that she was in the shell, and enormous efforts were being made to pull her out. Today when she has finally broke open her shell, then why can’t we let her enjoy her newly achieved status and freedom.
As far as kids and family is concerned...I would say women are better managers, and they can very well manage the two fronts if others do not make things tough for them.
Towards the end I would like to say that by being successful and well paid women are not killing feminism...rather they are redefining it. As per the new definition women will emerge as an independent and self supporting entity that will not have to look towards men to get away her rights.
